I have a confession...before this weekend I had never been to a Whole Foods before, ever in my life. I felt the void.
I've had a bi-coastal love affair with Trader Joe's, turned to Wegmans or Harris Teeter for a special occasion, and there's always a locally owned organic food store it seems, but never Whole Foods, until now! Our hotel was right next to one and I couldn't resist. We ended up getting dinner there and some road snacks.
I really wanted to get the Ball Sprouting Kit...and somehow managed to talk myself out of it. Okay I really wanted to get one of everything...but here's what we did find:
Mamma Chia - okay in theory this is amazing, juice with chia seeds! So healthy, so good, so....strange. What threw me off was the texture of the chia seeds, there were just so many of them. I would have liked a little less seeds and a little more juice. If you like bubble teas you might really like this.
Orgain - my hubby picked this up, he's obsessed with protein drinks. This was one I could actually support being organic and what not. He did say it was a bit chalky, but finished it in a few gulps...so I think he liked it overall.
okay on to the good stuff...
Seattle Chocolates - who doesn't get excited at a chocolate aisle? we picked up Cappuccino Crunch Truffle Bar (my favorite!) and San Juan Sea Salt Bar, both were really really good. I actually saw these bars on Guam too, for all my Guammie Bears out there go to the Payless at Micronesia mall!
Beanitos - these are so good! It tastes like the rice and beans you would get as the side at a mexican restaurant. I'm already thinking up how to use them in a recipe...besides nachos. They are the perfect chip for dip, and so much better for you.
Kettle Jalapeno Jack Chips - this was another hubby pick, they are definitely good, potato chips with a little spice. I love this brands Thai chips, so good too.
So that is a little of our road trip food. I really could have gone crazy if we didn't have a 7 hour drive ahead of us, such a fun place.
(Not sponsored in any way, just our fun buys and my first trip to a really fun grocery store)
I love Whole Foods, I used to live 20 minutes from one but now it's more like an hour so once in awhile I'll make a trip to stock up on stuff. I'm glad you enjoyed your first experience!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you have never been there! I try not to go too often since it is known as "whole paycheck" but the salad bar is hard to resist. Sometimes I just go at lunch for the taste tests :)
