Since I was a little bummed he was gone a little retail therapy was definitely needed. While I was out I found the coolest thing and decided someone else needs this too. So I'm giving one away!
Ceramic knives are becoming trendy and I'm loving it! I looked into it and found out a few things:
You won't have to sharpen these very often, they have a hardness of 8.5 (normal steel is 6, and a Diamond is 10), so the edge rarely will go dull on you. Awesome!
Ceramic knives are nonporous, so they do not transfer scents from one food to another. Steel knives do, (I never knew that!).
Ceramic knives are a bit more fragile than steel so you can't use it to cut through bone-in meats, but they are perfect for veggies, boneless meats, fruits, etc. Ceramic actually gives a more precise cut than steel. (If you are into that kind of thing, clearly I'm not, but that's just me)
You can find more info here.
Okay enough chat about Ceramic.
