Happy Friday! Pretty sure when it comes to friday we're all looking for something quick and simple. This is it. Crunchy, healthy, tangy, just serve up a big bowl of this salad and you'll be feeling better in no time.
This recipe actually comes from my husband! I know, I was shocked too. While we were dating I was visiting him in flight school (he's a helicopter pilot) and he completely won me over with this. Well, maybe not just this.
Here's what the pre-chopped slaw looks like in packaging so you can find it in you grocery produce section, or maybe by the bagged lettuce? We've been making this for years together, he and I, so we've tried all sorts of combinations but this seems to be the fan favorite.
(Previous recipe from my past blog here)
Recipe time!
2 Bags Broccoli Slaw
2 Packages Instant Ramen Noodles, save one seasoning packet
1 T Sesame Seeds
1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 Cup Canola Oil
1-2 T. Sesame Oil (to taste)
1 tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp Garlic Powder...honestly I shake in a little extra, garlic is key
1 packet of the Ramen Noodle Seasoning
1/2 tsp red pepper flake (if you can handle the heat)
*in previous recipes we played with adding slivered almonds and sunflower seeds, a fun idea but we found they just kinda got lost in the mix *
1. Empty your slaw into a large bowl.
2. Open one Ramen package and remove the seasoning packet, set aside.
3. In a small bowl mix together...vinegar, oils, pepper, garlic, ramen seasoning packet, and red pepper flakes. Mix well.
4. Add sesame seeds to the broccoli in the bowl. Then pour the oil/vinegar over everything and mix well.
5. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour.
6. Just before serving, take out your Ramen noodles and break them into small pieces. Mix in well and enjoy!
This looks delish and healthy. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI've had slaws similar to this and always loved them. The ramen a nice texture and dimension to the salad. Glad to have a recipe for this if I ever want to make it myself. Great to "meet" you and happy to have found your blog!
