10 Margaritas

Cocktail time! One of my good friends got me to fall in love with margs on the rocks.  She can make a killer batch, and we would do happy hour, sitting outside with chips and salsa talking until the guys came home from their long days of flying.  Now it's one of my go-to drinks for relaxing at dinner.

So while my guy was cleaning the shrimp for our Grits feast (doesn't he look thrilled that I'm taking his picture? hehe), I happily took on the job of making the bevvies.  I opened that bottle of tequila and thought, "hm...smells like...college".  But these days we've traded those shots for freshly squeezed lime juice and simple syrup.

This is also a great recipe to use as a base and then add all kinds of flavors to jazz things up!

Margs on the Rocks Recipe
(Makes 1 Pitcher)  *Adapted from Confections of a Foodie Bride

Ingredients:
9 Limes, juiced
1/2 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
1/2 cup Silver Tequila
1/4 cup Triple Sec
Salt
Ice

1.  In a small saucepan heat the water and sugar until the sugar has completely dissolved and water is clear.  Set aside to cool.

2.  Squeeze lime juice into a large pitcher.  Add the tequila, triple sec, and simple syrup to the lime juice and stir well.

3.  Put enough water or lime juice on a plate so that you have a small puddle and on another plate pour a small pile of salt. Dip the rim of the glass in the puddle to wet it, and then into the salt to coat the rim evenly.

4.  Add ice to the glass and pour in the cocktail!  Enjoy responsibly :)

Happy weekend!!
