Oh the cuteness. I wanted to take one home with me. A sure sign of spring. The piglets are only 4 days old here, and they were just full of life racing around the pen and pausing for a quick nap in the sun.
And nope, these little guys aren't mine. While my hubs was here visiting we went to Mt. Vernon (George Washington's Home) with my family, and we got to see some of the working farm. My guy had never been and my Grandmother is friends with someone who works there, so she set us up with a great tour.
We had no idea she had set up for us to be part of the daily Wreath Laying Ceremony in Washington's Tomb. They roped off the area and unlocked the tomb...wow I can't describe the power of standing there by the Founding Father of our nation.
And then they had us read Washington's Prayer for our country and they thanked my husband for his service. He's a Navy Helicopter Pilot. And my eyes were just overflowing with tears. It meant so much to us!
And then we got pizza.
Big, cheesy, Brick Oven, New York style pizza.
Is there anything better? (The answer is no.)
We go to Brick Oven Pizza (BOP) in Fells Point, Baltimore. It was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, you know, on the Food Network. We love that show! (Nerd alert!) And always try to go to the different places he features. We've actually been to quite a few...
If you're ever in the Baltimore area do not miss this place! You can build your own slice, above is ricotta/spinach/bacon, and you can see the roaring brick oven fire, it's the real deal.
Sounds like a wonderful visit. Those piglets have to be among the most adorable creatures I have ever seen. I would want to scoop one too!
ReplyDeleteI WANT that pizza. My mouth is watering so much my fingers have forgotten how to work.
