1 Valentine's Day Restaurant Review

Have you ever been to Fells Point, Baltimore?  It's an artsy area full of the cutest, most interesting restaurants, bars and shops.  The perfect mix of history, charm, and quirkiness - you will love it.  Just be careful wearing heels while walking on the cobblestone streets!  Flats are definitely the way to go.

For Valentine's Day we had a foodie adventure at  Tapas Adela Restaurant which is all about Spanish tapas.  I heart tapas because you can try so many different flavors.  Don't even get me started on the wine list...my Tempranillo was luscious, and he was happy with a spicier Malbec.

I didn't take any pictures!  I know I know...it kind of stinks.  BUT...it was more romantic that way, ya know?

That is the room we ate in, overlooking the street - it was very intimate.  Lots of giggling talking over our memories of dating, while sipping the wine.

Ok, so here is what we ordered, we left completely satisfied and inspired!

Patatas Bravas
Spicy Potatoes, Pimenton Oil, Aioli

Berenjenas “Fritas”
Fried Eggplant Lightly Dusted with Semolina,
Fleur de Sel, Lavender Flower Honey

Camarones y Ajo
Shrimp, Roasted Garlic, Green Onions, Mojo Verde

Albondigas
Lamb, Beef Meatballs, Roasted Tomato Fennel Sauce,
Manchego, Toasted Almonds

Escalivada
Marinated Grilled Vegetables,
Arbequina Olive Oil, Iberico Ham

I'm obsessed with the eggplant & honey, pimenton oil and the marinade for the grilled veggies.  The marinade tasted like maple syrup & balsamic vinegar...hm gotta figure that one out.  These are all going on the to-do list to try to recreate!

We still had room for dessert, so we went next door to Pitango Gelato.  I tasted Cardamom Gelato for the first time...it was lemony and I liked it a lot!  But I went with a Chocolate/Espresso, he got the same with the Chocolate/Hazelnut too.

Best of all they use organic, all natural ingredients - like grass-fed, organic milk and free-range chicken eggs. Ah-mazing.  They have a passion for good, quality, ingredients that really makes their gelato outstanding.

It was the perfect date with my best friend.  Afterwards, we went home to watch the Westminster Dog Show, the doberman was robbed (IMHO).

Hope you had a great day too!

  1. sounds like you had a nice time. i like the front of the gelato place, very cute. and i agree.. there are times when pulling out a camera would just disturb the nice flow and atmosphere. sometimes, it's good to observe and remember without pressing click :)
